White Horse Contractors were selected by Eastleigh Borough Council to construct 2 new natural cricket squares at the Lapstone playing fields in 2023. The works began on time on 1st September 2023 as our team began the process of topsoil removal of 350 tonnes using an excavator and dumpers. The area was Lazer levelled and 300m3 of cricket specialist loam was imported.

The Natural wickets were supplemented with 2 artificial wickets. All the wickets were supplied with an irrigation system installed by White Horse Contractors. There was a double lane, fenced, artificial practice cricket nets constructed at the same time. The value of the construction for phase 1 was £250K, the project was delivered on time and on budget.

In phase 2 of the project, began in early 2024, the White Horse Contractors team arrived on site on the designated start date to begin landscape clearance of existing trees, many of these were recycled to create a log pile habitat on site. A culvert was installed to divert the existing watercourse and enable the extension to the new outfield. Newt fencing and daily monitoring was completed on site by our team. White Horse Contractors constructed a new wetland to improve the sites biodiversity net gain of the site alongside the tree and Wipp planting throughout the playing fields. The White Horse Contractors team then began the cut and fill of subsoil and topsoil for the outfield for the new square and the creation of the new pathway around the exterior of the grounds, with a total of 486 metres x 2m wide pathways constructed across the site.

The final work undertaken by White Horse Contractors for the Lapstone playing fields was Sports field drainage of the existing pitches work £30k. Our dedicated team installed secondary drainage using our sand slitting and subsequent drain line seeding. The client was delighted with the work which was completed on time and on budget by White Horse Contractors
