The site

From vacant agricultural land used only by dog-walkers, White Horse Contractors entered the site in May 2021 after successfully winning the tender from Eastleigh Borough Council, then proceeded with the site clearance and earthworks.

The land was stripped of topsoil, with a sub-soil cut & fill implemented to level the land before primary and secondary drainage could be installed. A Rootzone carpet was expertly laid by specialist plant and equipment, before the cultivation and seeding of all 3 pitches. White Horse Contractors then undertook a 12-months establishment phase including agronomic aftercare and maintenance.

The work

To compliment the new facility at Woodhouse Lane, an access road and street lighting was built for entry to the new pitches, with footpath access to the nearby school.

Completed with surrounding wildlife and landscaping areas, Woodhouse Lane Sports Fields has been designed and constructed for whole community use, with Hedge End Rangers FC, grassroots football, Sunday league, private hire from sports clubs and schools intending to use the site, and even dog-walkers will be welcome back to enjoy the newly built footpath and surrounding landscape areas.
